Printable high-contrast cards

114 ready-made cards you can download and print right now — no sign-up, no settings to learn, and nothing to install. Each one is a single sheet, in black and white, drawn at the size a particular viewing distance asks for.

If you already know what you want, the generator makes any size, any distance and any pattern: open the generator. These pages are for the other case — you want something good enough to print in the next five minutes.

Pick the distance first, then the stage

The single most useful thing to get right is how far the card will be from the eyes. A card that works on a changing table at 30 cm is far too fine to see from a cot across the room, and the same design printed for 250 cm looks absurdly coarse up close. So: measure the distance, then choose the page that matches roughly how old the baby is.

Print at 100%. In your print dialog choose “Actual size” / “100%” — never “Fit to page”, which silently resizes the sheet and destroys the exact scale the whole tool exists for. Worth doing once:check your printer.

Not a medical device. These are enrichment and accessibility prints, not a diagnostic or therapeutic tool. For premature, CVI or low-vision care, follow your clinicians. Never place a print where it can be pulled down, and never inside a cot with a baby in it — see the disclaimer.

By stage

By pattern

The same cards, cut the other way. If you already know a repeating pattern reads better from across a room than a single big shape does, start here.

Why some combinations are missing

There are 132 possible (stage × pattern × distance) combinations and 114of them are published. The 18 that are not are ones where the viewing distance stopped changing the print: past a certain distance a single big shape is already as wide as the sheet, so the 120 cm and 250 cm versions would be the same drawing at the same size as the 60 cm one. A distance in the title that is not a property of the paper is a card we would rather not publish. For those distances, choose a repeating pattern instead — it crops at true scale and keeps meaning what it says.

9 of the cards are US Letter only for the same reason in miniature: US Letter is 5.9 mm wider than A4, so a motif can still be sized by the distance on one sheet and not the other. Each card says which sheet sizes it offers, and why.
