Around three to four months, recognition starts: bold silhouettes of real things — a house, a fish, a cat, a flower — become worth looking at as objects rather than as arrangements of edges. Acuity is climbing, so the repeating patterns here are noticeably finer than the newborn set at the same distance.

Print at 100%. Choose “Actual size” / “100%” in the print dialog — “Fit to page” resizes the sheet and the size is the whole point.Check your printer once and every card after that comes out right.

Not a medical device. Enrichment and accessibility prints, not a diagnostic or therapeutic tool — for premature, CVI or low-vision care, follow your clinicians. Mount prints where they cannot be pulled down, and never inside a cot with a baby in it (mounting safely).

What is on this page

They do not all appear at every distance, and that is deliberate: past the distance where a single big figure is already as wide as the sheet, the longer-distance versions would be the same drawing at the same size, so6 combinations on this page are not published. For a card that has to work from across a room, pick a repeating pattern: it crops at true scale, so its features keep the size the distance asks for.
